Simon Read

Simon Read applies his innovative style principally to motorsports and aviation. For over twenty years his paintings and drawings have been commissioned by enthusiasts, various organisations, corporate sponsors and racing teams, including Formula One and V8 Supercars. Further work in advertising, design, graphics, and illustrative media encouraged the mastery of diverse materials and the development of new techniques with Gouache, Watercolour, Pencil and Indian Inks.

After briefly experimenting with airbrushes, Simon now paints mainly with fine sable brushes. In addition to racing cars, aviation and other technical subjects, there is a love of figure drawing that has led in a variety of directions, including his trademark portrait and car combinations. Portraying great detail, the paintings also evoke power, movement and passion for the subject. Simon lives and works in Adelaide, South Australia.
